Why do guy friends ask very personal questions?

He wasn't even one of my close friends. He first asked me who my crushes were and then he asked if I get horny. Talk about awkward moment. I'm pretty sure he "likes" me, but what on earth possessed him to ask that? A one legged giraffe has more grace then that.
