Hey I've been going out with my girlfriend for almost a month. When we go out on dates and its just us its amazing we have great times. I would like to ask the yahoo community a simple question that I have been asking myself for the past few days. OK here goes. I really cant figure out why 50% of the people whom which I encounter fail to acknowledge my presence when walking by and the other 50% of people do acknowledge my presence when walking by. Maybe I am being to philosophical about the situation but i must ask. Personally, I always acknowledge everyones presence when I walk by them even if I dont know the person. I do this primarily due to the fact that you never know who you are encountering and may be of some importance to you later on in life. In addition, its also just the right thing to do. I for one am a fairly successful person ( With no ego )in my opinion, and am willing to help people take the careers to the next level. However, I am astonished at the fact that 50% of people whom which I encounter never even take the time give simple courtesy acknowledgement when walking by. Is this due to the fact that people are becoming more and more individualistic as the years go by and more concerned about themselves and their wants, or maybe im just over thinking this situation. However, I would like to end with this: With me knowing the fact that I have obtained the majority of my success through learning from and meeting new people, it seems odd to me that people do in fact block themselves from learning more about lifes experiences from other people who might give them some advice that could change their lives. Hopefully people will one day learn to respect everyone despite their race,ideology and differences.

Actually, I disagree. It depends on how good your lawyer is, not how much money they are being paid. There are just as many good public defenders as there are high paid attorneys. In fact, PDs tend to have much more court room experience, know and have the respect of the judges, and actually know how to persuade a jury. Money didn't save O.J. Simpson, fame did. And I have actually found, in talking to jurors after trial, that the jurors actually do care and listen to the evidence. Believe it or not, some even see it as their civic duty to serve jury duty. Yes, there are some who don't want to be there and will do anything possible to keep from sitting on the case, but that's usually not the case.

I need someone to talk to....?

I've been pushed and stressed for way to long. It has gotten to the point where it feels like no one even cares for me. I've tried an tried to stay positive but I can't keep going like this anymore. Look into some reining competitions. It is close to WP and horsemanship but easier to find a horse to do both this and run barrels. I have a very painful back injury with severe sciatica that just won't go away. I've been taking percocet and/or lortabs for the better part of the last 2 years. Sounds more like pleurisy, an infection in the or between the diaphragm and the lungs. Shingles is on the skin and she should be able to tell where it is. If it's a catching pain under the ribs then I don't think it the shingles. Shingles doesn't always have blisters sometimes they're just bumps that are an angry red.

Rotator cuff injury?

I slightly tore my rotator cuff in an auto accident about 2 years ago. It wasnt bad enough for surgery, and for the most part the pain is gone, but when i do regular simple activities (rake, sweep, etc) the pain will come back. I have also noticed sometimes in the morning when i wake up it is stiff and sore. I dont know what to do!! I cant avoid the activities i am doing and aspirin/pain reliever doesnt help at all. I also have a hottub i soak it in but that doesnt help either. I feel stuck with this annoying injury, but i dont want or need surgery. It isnt sore all the time either..Any suggestions?

I am told I am too motivated?

I watched a movie (think it was a kids movie) a long time ago when i was a kid (probably the early 90's late 80's). It started out with some kid (main character) flying a kite with his father. Next thing I remember the kid was walking past some shops late at night when he sees a poster with a golden apple on it. The golden apple seemed to be real, and the kid grabs it. Then a wizard ghost thing comes down from the sky and tells the kid to grab his beard, he does, and they fly off through the clouds to some distant medieval land. We generally use Maple Grove Farms maple syrup. But when I went to BJs I thought I will get the maple syrup from there and just picked up Aunt Jemimas Original syrup thinking it is original maple syrup. The next day I tell him that I sent him an email, he says, "Okay baby..." still sounds very affectionate. I am not sure if he has even checked it yet. The email said that I loved the time we shared together, and that I know that I over reacted to the birthday thing, and that I cared about him, and still wanted him to be apart of my life. It was on a Friday, and I haven't heard anything back from him. I really felt that we have a great connection. We had so much fun together, he really seemed like he meant everything he said. What happened? How do I fix this? BTW- He was broken up with by his ex of 2 yrs, and he told me they still talk, and that she had changed her mind, and was trying to get back together with him. Am I the problem in our marriage?

I have been married for 25 years. I knew the moment I saw my husband we would be together, he felt exactly the same way. We married had three children, life went on great. He was a very sporty person but after injuring his knee six years into our marriage, things changed. He became aggressive, angry. He was hooked on panadeine forte. Things improved after a year but 8 years on he had another accident and badly injured his shoulder. The anger and aggression returned. He would smash plates, throw items, break the computer, throw keys at me, he hit me once across the face for rolling my eyes. I do believe he was taking hard drugs. Now two of the children have left home, the reason they have said was because of the arguments. He starts an argument and just keeps on and on, more vicious and sarcastic until i snap. I never hit him back but after 2 years of having things thrown at me or watching things get broken one day I snapped and hit back with a broom. I'm not proud of this but i snapped. I went to a psychiatrist and a year later another. We have been to councelling, this has helped but only for a short time. The aggression from my husband lasted 5 years and then i had an affair. I felt so happy and wanted and loved. That ended so I looked for other men to talk to, I think to make me feel i was still a good person. Now we still love each other but fight all the time. I go out more socially now on my own more probably than with my husband. This causes sarcasm from him because we are not doing much together. The problem is when we do go out I am just myself, happy, laughing etc. He would then pick on something I did, I didnt show enough attention while we were out or people could see we were not happy or pick on me for laughing and having a joke but he would see it as me being rude.My husband never shows anyone outside of our home any problems, he is the opposite but at home behind doors he can become sarcastic, insulting, no repect and I now I have become the same person. I slapped his face the other day as he was saying the most disgusting degrading things and I turned to walk away and he hit me across the back of the head with a rolled up newspaper and pushed me hard into a couch. The next day things escalated and we were yelling, my son interupted and my husband and son got into a physical flight. My son left and my husband kept slamming his door. I went to open it and the handle had fallen off, he then pushed me very hard against a wall bruising my back. I said i am calling the police and he fell down in tears and begged me not to, saying I love you. his is two weeks ago and when I bring it up now he says you'll never get over the abuse like I'm supposed to or something. He can be very loving and works hard but has a very short fuse. Is it the injury that makes him angry or can he justify being angry because he is frustrated I am not the happy bubbly person like when I am when I'm around other people. I dont like him even touching me anymore, I dont want and I feel like if I show affection he will think everything is Ok but I know the aurguiing will escalate again its happened to many times before. I just dont know which way to turn.

How did my 4 year old healthy English Bulldog die after a having a Reproductive l Hyperplasia Surgery?

First of all I want to say that I am devastated by the death of my dog. She was the sweetest and loving dog anyone could ever ask for. I can't believe that she died over something that we choose to have done. This is a common problem english bulldogs have and we managed to hold off for 4 years without having the surgery. All along we have been told this was a very routine surgery where they cut the extra skin around her and sort of tighten it up a bit. She was starting to get a UTI and the vet said if we did not get the surgery it would just keep coming back and could then become a real health concern for our dog Bree. My boyfriend went on the consultation and the vet NEVER said one thing about the dangers of this surgery. I know it sounds odd but he really didn't. He told my boyfriend that it was a very simple surgery and we had nothing to worry about. The consulation was VERY short, so short my boyfriend almost left without paying. He thought it was added in the cost of the surgery and the visit was so short he didn't think he would be getting charge. They charged us $120 for that consulation and NEVER even took the time to explain the dangers especially with having this done on a bulldog. We got the call at around 4pm she was in recovery that the surgery was fine, all went well, she is awake and they have an ice pack on the area. I am still at work at this point. My boyfriend calls me back at 7:45pm to tell me to GET HOME right away,but doesn't say why just something has happened. I speed home to find out that the vet on duty called him to say she went into cardiac arrest can they do whatever is necessary. He said YES please! The same vet calls back 6 mintues later to say she died. I AM BLOWN AWAY! How did this happen? We went there and the vet on staff who was the one to call that said she died, started off by saying how bulldogs have restricted air waves and when you put them under it slows down the breathing and the heart rate. With this, I asked her why did they not monitor her better, why was Bree not on a machine that would have warned them she was dying, why was she just treated like any other breed of dog when they knew the risks. The vet without coming right out and saying YES we screwed up, just agreed with me and kept saying she was so sorry that she doesn't know how this happened. I told her they killed my dog, she never gave me any explanation or try to talk her way out of it and say...well no, we did this,this,this. She agreed with me and I knew that my thoughts were correct. I asked for a copy of my records, a detail description of what took place during and after the surgery, who was working on staff, how many beds are back in recovery room for the staff to look after all at once,etc. She said "okay". She then came back to say she couldn't that she called the vet that performed the surgery and he told her not to do anything that they would prepare something for us tomorrow. I then replied, so that you guys can cover your tracks? She didn't answer me. How likely is it that I am going to get a REAL account of the details surrounding the death of my dog? I'm probably not. I am so discussed, so heart broken, so empty inside, I can't believe this happened to my dog. I know there are risks with any surgery but WHY didn't they come out and say "you have a bulldog here are some the of the problems that may arise from this surgery, this is what we are going to do to make sure that nothing happens to her, but we have to warn you" had they said THAT or anything remotely close to that, we would have thought twice about it and did our own research, picked a vet that specialized in bulldogs or waited like we had done for this long and seen if she got another UTI. I really feel, it was not anything they did during surgery (or atleast I hope not) but the after care is where they dropped the ball and which ultimately killed my best friend. Who knows how long Bree was back there suffering or even just dead. Who knows! I wonder if she wasn't really already dead when they called. The vet said she was not breathing when they found her and that her heart had already stopped. Our lives will never be the same! This dog brought so much joy in our lives I can not believe it. How could one little animal bring me so much joy! I will truely miss her and just want nothing more than her to be right next to me. I have to go today and have her remains taken care of. I will never forget what this dog has done for me! I will miss her!
